We Heart SF!
This was our second visit to San Francisco, the first being 5 years ago now.
SF is such a fun city - full of culture and zsa zsa zsu! Each of our two visits were very different in a lot of ways but sooooo much fun!
This visit was made even more fun as we went to visit old pals and co Aussie expats who have been living in SF for a few years now - so this time we got the locals tour of all things San Francisco!
We thought we would share a few places we consider "must sees"/ "must dos" in this fabulous, cosmopolitan city.
1. Alcatraz Island
2. Golden Gate Bridge
5. Fisherman's Wharf
6. Spend the afternoon chilling in the park, any park!
San Francisco has so many beautiful outdoor areas to sit and people watch and soak up the atmosphere. Take a good book and chill out for the afternoon
Our two favourites are:
Golden Gate park - where on Sundays you can get FREE jazz dancing lessons and watch the roller skaters in the park
Dolores Park - in the hip suburb of Mission, this park has a great vista of the city and is a brilliant spot for people watching and lazing the day away
6. Explore Mission neighbourhood
This hood is seriously cool - great cafes and food stores, vintage clothing, book stores and brilliant street art - I LOVE this neighbourhood and spent at least half a day shopping and checking out all the art. Make sure you get to the
8. Napa and Sonoma Valley
And of course, being the epic wine lovers that we are - as far as we concerned, no visit to SF is complete without a drive up the road to the divine Napa Valley - home of gorgeous sparklings, Californian reds and beautiful villas. Do yourself a favour and hire a car for the day (ensuring you have a designated driver of course!) and make the drive up to the pristine region. We have visited Napa both times and always wish I could stay longer!
